Great fun and many learnings this week at the National Cybersecurity Alliance Convene Conference in Seattle. We all experienced stunning views of the Puget Sound, a warm, friendly atmosphere and the chance to meet great people doing excellent work.
Highlights include:
☑ Caitlin S. (Cybersecurity Girl) shared insights on building trust and creating an online presence that resonates.
☑ Roger Grimes reminded us all that multi-factor authentication exists along a spectrum of effectiveness.
☑ Julie Michelle Morris provided actionable tactics for sharing thought leadership online.
☑ Chris Hilinski of Intuit spoke about making awareness training fun and engaging by creating mascots.
☑ Marc Dupuis PhD shared recent research indicating that the use of fear and other negative emotions might not be effective in the long run.
☑ Dr. Bob Hausmann also emphasized the need to avoid negative messaging, and to lean into creating fans.
☑ Jenn DeBerge expertly led a “Security Share + Brag” session of lightning talks which provided a window into what’s happening inside corporate security awareness programs.
